Crimes and Horrific Violations Perpetrated by the Occupation against Detainees and Their Families
Numerous testimonies from prisoners and detainees have documented severe crimes and violations they have endured during unprecedented arrest campaigns by the Israeli occupation forces. These testimonies, whether from those currently held in Israeli prisons or those who have been released, highlight the immense scale of these crimes. Among them are extrajudicial executions carried out in the field and attempts to kill detainees by opening fire during their arrest.
The brutality of the occupation’s crimes extends beyond detainees to encompass their families and friends. Policies employed by the occupation forces during these arrest operations include brutal beatings, field interrogations, and threats that escalated to the point of murder and rape. Other methods included using police dogs during home invasions, employing civilians as human shields and hostages, and committing widespread acts of destruction such as demolishing homes belonging to prisoners in Israeli prisons.
These assaults and systematic crimes have resulted in physical injuries to many detainees and their family members. Furthermore, the occupation deliberately withholds medical treatment from them after arrest. Testimonies from families have also documented numerous psychological symptoms among family members, including children, due to the brutal invasion operations carried out on their homes.
In the context of these crimes, institutions have continued to monitor instances where Israeli soldiers filmed videos of civilians during their arrests. These videos depicted soldiers torturing unarmed civilian citizens in degrading conditions after stripping them of their clothes. Additionally, there were videos showing Palestinian citizens after their arrest in humiliating conditions, deliberately placing the Israeli flag on blindfolded and bound detainees. Some of the most striking images and videos of these violations emerged from Gaza during ground invasions.
Moreover, the occupation system has adapted by issuing and enforcing military orders to facilitate more arrest campaigns. These actions have effectively intensified the scale of arrests, particularly by expanding the implementation of administrative detention. This practice marks a significant shift in the historical numbers of administrative detainees.
